Quality Ablation in Monte Carlo 2025

CASCINATION participated in the first AngioDynamics Symposium for Life in 2022. Last week in Monaco, we participated again, and regretted not participating in all the ones in between!

Starting off with a bang, our booth was packed with IRs eager to see CAS-One IR for themselves. Did our bold new messaging resonate with them? We think so.

To supplement demonstrations, both the Quality Ablation – Full Procedure and AblaSure and Reablation Workflow videos were playing on loop.

Before the meeting started, Prof. Ajith Siriwardena hosted the Liver Ablation Consensus meeting – of which we were grateful to not only be observers, but participants. The goal of this meeting was a good one – to design a questionnaire to be distributed at IR, HPB Surgery, and Surgical/Medical Oncology conferences to see how these different specialities view liver ablation, and more important, liver ablation confirmation.

Stefan Weber, the CEO of CASCINATION was able to give a 15 minute presentation aptly titled “ What we have learned in developing planning, navigation, and ablation confirmation over the past 10 years”. The audience appreciated, and asked questions about how we have progressed our software over the years – and how we address common problems now, and in the future.

Finally, CAS-One IR was featured on the podium in two scientific sessions.

The first, Prof, Thiery Chapelle (Antwerp, BE) outlined different stereotactic options on the market as well as different “ navigation” techniques, and iterated that with his ~300 patients treated with CAS-One IR, the clinical outcomes have exceeded expectations, and there is very positive economic arguments for the hospital. He even does 1-2 pancreatic IRE cases a year (see one here)– one of the most complex cases to perform. As a surgeon, it is strong statement for him to be such a vocal advocate of CAS-One IR

Next - Dr. Shaheen Noorani (Hampshire Hospitals, UK) presented on “Quality Ablation in the Liver and Lung” and highlighted how while “ complex cases” was the original reason she started with CAS-One IR 4 years ago, she now appreciated the value in all cases – namely because of the ablation confirmation. Of course, it is possible to freehand navigate to an easy lesion, but then the “ eyeballing” problem of pre and post CECTs still exists.

She has completed nearly 100 cases in liver and lung, and shared some preliminary retrospective data from her liver patients indicating an impressive decrease in local tumor progression of 15% with Freehand CT guidance (normal / on the low-end based on the literature), to an astounding 3.2% after adopting CAS-One IR. The data is of course yet to be peer-reviewed and published but nevertheless, these results, and the time savings (60% reduction!) are impressive – and we look forward to a potential publications
