In January, CASCINATION brought together CAS-One IR users from across the UK and Ireland for the inaugural UKI User Group Meeting in London.
The objective was straightforward: to build a connected network of UKI centres that supports open knowledge exchange, shared experience, and continued improvement in quality ablation. As more centres establish and expand stereotactic ablation programmes, the need for structured peer discussion becomes increasingly important.
A forum for practical discussion. The agenda focused on real-world clinical themes:
The format encouraged open dialogue between centres at different stages of adoption. Discussions were candid and practical, grounded in day-to-day experience rather than theory.
Clinical contributions
We were pleased to hear detailed presentations from Dr. Nadeem Shaida, and Dr. Shaheen Noorani, who shared early audit insights and clinical reflections from their centres - such as LTP at 1-year dropping to a remarkable 3% at Dr. Noorani's hospital.
These sessions prompted thoughtful discussion around technique, decision-making, and the role of data in strengthening MDT confidence. The willingness to share both successes and learning points set the tone for the meeting.
Early outcomes
The value of peer exchange was evident almost immediately.
One centre has since begun attending their CRLM MDT more proactively to advocate for increased ablation referrals, following discussion around engagement strategies.
Several centres are now directly contacting one another to discuss individual patients, perceived procedural risks, and how they would approach specific cases. This type of peer-to-peer collaboration was a key ambition of the meeting.
Reflections from attendees
Feedback highlighted the preparation and structure behind the day:
“I was very impressed at the thought that has gone into this meeting. It has outshone any other user group meetings that I have attended in the past.”
“The CASCINATION team were excellent throughout and should be commended for delivering a well organised, informative, and high quality meeting.”
Looking forward
Beyond immediate discussions, there was strong interest in aligning more closely around shared clinical insight and structured collaboration across the region. These conversations will continue.
The January meeting marked the beginning of a more connected UKI CAS-One IR community — focused on shared learning, clinical refinement, and delivering consistent quality in ablation practice.
